Expansion Joints
System Buildup
- Ensure that the surface is clean and free from all traces of loose materials, old coatings, curing membranes, release agents, laitance, oil, greases etc.
- Remove structurally unsound layers and surface containments by abrasive blast tracking or grinding.
- Arises Shall be rounded off and surface protrusions shall be ground down to ensure a workable surface.
- Use paintocon (A+B) a flexible high alumina cementitious 2 components (3:1) patching mortar for re-profiling defects on horizontal surfaces. Using paintocon should depend on the scope, particular conditions and requirement of the work.
- All Cracks near Expansion Joints (which is greater than 1mm) must be open as V groove and thoroughly repaired with Epoxy Crack Healer Sealer.
- After surface preparation and cleaning of the RCC substrates, mark the area where leakage or seepage is observed.
- As per the marking done on vertical substrates on leakage, open the crack as V groove, clean the area after crack opening.
- After cleaning the crack, pour Healer Sealer 007 in crack evenly, let the chemical be absorbed deep inside the crack.
- After 2-3 hours, again pour Healer sealer 007 deep inside the crack.
- After fully dried up, now fill the crack with Crack Healer Sealer material.
- Ensure that Crack healer sealer material is not hard or tight, slurry type material is recommended so that the material will go well inside the crack and fill all voids or porous gaps.
- Finally, with semisolid material crack can be filled completely and match to the existing surface of Roof/slab.

HEALER SEALER Crystalline Grouting Application
- After all the cracks are treated well with the designated method as described in 3.6, as per the instruction of Engineer in Charge.
- Short holes are drilled along the expansion joint & nozzles are fixed at an interval of 1M each which is used as entry & venting terminals.
- Recron wool which acts as "secondary reinforcement" in concrete which arrests cracks, increases resistance to impact/abrasion & greatly improves quality of construction is mixed with highly elastomeric copolymer & filled into the joints.
- The Pressure grouting is carried out which will ensure the honeycombs, rock pockets and tie holes that are infesting the concrete will be made volume tight. Grouting is usually started with a relatively thin grout, thickened as quickly as possible to the heaviest consistency that can be pumped without blockage Grouting will be at places wherever necessary near beams and columns. The injection port is then capped, and the process is repeated for further ports. The material used here consists of crystallization liquid, acrylic monomer, acrylic copolymer factory mixed in the ratio 1:1:1 which is further diluted with water at site.

Healer sealer 007 is a crystallization liquid of specific gravity 1.09 is applied on the prepared surface. The sodium acetate formed during the chemical reaction penetrates inside the pores of the concrete and reacts with water to form active crystals to block the pores.2
ROOF HEALER SEALER a Elastomeric Membrane Application
- RFHS Elastomeric TPO membrane will be applied on the surface using HEALER SEALER water based epoxy and further filled with PAINTOPAINT Recron wool to give a flat surface which acts as a base for HDPP mesh application.
- PAINTOPAINT TPO is a polymer blend that typically consists of a mix of different grades of polypropylene, polyethylene, and elastomeric or rubber. This material has been designed to be tough and durable and withstand the sometimes harsh outdoor elements
- High density propylene mesh will be applied on the flattened concave & convex surface which acts as reinforcement to get durability & protection. It acts as sealer & is puncture resistant which is of prime importance.
- A mixture of PAINTOPAINT acrylic monomer, (1:1) Roof Healer sealer & Acrylic mixed in proper proportion will applied on the HDPE mesh applied. Final Application of a coat of Roof Healer Sealer shall be applied on the primer coat and drying time is about 3 hours. The rate of completion of Roof Healer Sealer for primer and final coat shall not be less than 1.25kg per Sq meter.
